Piaggio and Vespa are the official scooter of the New Orleans Police Department

Scooter CopsIf you think Vespas are cool, just wait till you see them Photo courtesy of Vespa USA turned into official police vehicles. In New Orleans the police officers ride four different models.  Their original fleet is Piaggio LT150s and one Vespa Granturismo.  In 2005 they added 2 Vespa GTSs and this year they have added a fleet of Piaggio BV250s.

But Vespa USA’s support of New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) does not stop there. The company also sponsors a raffle in collaboration with Nelson Savoie to raise much needed funds for the NOPD after the devastating damages due to Hurricane Katrina.

The winning ticket for a new BV250 was drawn on Tuesday, August 7th at Nelson's Night Out Against Crime party at 3006 Esplande Ave, New Orleans. The name of the lucky new owner, however, had not been announced yet at press time.
